Saalbach lies in the ski resort Saalbach / Hinterglemm in the Salzburg region, where tens of thousands of people go each year for their skiing holiday. The ski areas Saalbach and Hinterglemm are often mentioned in one breath, because they have grown close to each other over time. Yet they both have a very different character. For example, a skiing holiday in Hinterglemm is a little less busy and lively than the chic Saalbach. Saalbach has more the look of an old winter sports village in the mountains of Austria. This is why a skiing holiday here usually was slightly more expensive than in Hinterglemm. Today, a skiing holiday in both areas is approximately comparable in terms of prices, only the aura and atmosphere is different. Saalbach's village-center is completely car-free, so both the party people as well as the strollers can walk around.

All together Saalbach-Hinterglemm offers more than 200 kilometers of ski runs. The great advantage is that virtually all lifts lead into the center of the villages. The elevators go up on both sides of the Glemmtal. The most centrally located place is Saalbach. There are only a few tracks that are really made for cracks only, but there is enough challenging terrain for everyone. The ski area is characterized by broad slopes and little off-slope areas. Almost every corner of this area can be explored.
