The runs around the Rukatuntuti, the highest mountain in Finland of almost 500m altitude are very challenging and have nice downhill ski slopes. Of course, these slopes are illuminated later in the day, as the darkness sets in, making skiing an extra special experience. Apart from the limited slope kilometers there are also quite descent off-piste possibilities, where experts can still find enough extra challenges. With more than 240km cross-country trails, Ruka is a real Mecca for the cross-country cracks among us.
