The ski resort Zermatt in Valais encompasses the village of the same name, Zermatt. The resort lies at the foot of the famous Matterhorn, one of the highest mountains in Europe. Zermatt is one of the world's most famous ski resorts in Switzerland, and in the completely car-free city center you will find yourself in a fairy-tale-like environment. You can be brought everywhere by horse sleds and small tourist trains. In addition to the ski slopes in the Zermatt area, this resort also offers access to the Italian ski resort, Breuil-Cervinia.
